Las Vegas DMV FAQ
Questions About Las Vegas DMV Services
Do I need a VIN inspection to register an out-of-state vehicle in Nevada?
Yes. Vehicles previously registered outside Nevada need a VIN inspection on the Vehicle Inspection Certificate (Form VP 015) before they can be titled and registered in Nevada. Front Door DMV Services coordinates the inspection along with your emissions test and Nevada title application, so you never visit a DMV office.
How long do I have to register my vehicle after moving to Las Vegas?
New Nevada residents have 30 days to register their vehicle. We handle the VIN inspection, emissions test, title application and registration for you anywhere in Las Vegas, Henderson and North Las Vegas.
Do I need a smog check to renew my registration in Las Vegas?
Most vehicles registered in the Las Vegas area need an emissions (smog) test before renewal, and your renewal notice tells you if one is required. We confirm the requirement for your vehicle and coordinate it as part of your renewal.
Do you help motor carriers with commercial registration and Form 2290?
Yes. For owner-operators and fleets we handle Nevada commercial vehicle registration and title work, IRS Form 2290 heavy vehicle use tax e-filing (the stamped Schedule 1 is required to register trucks 55,000 lbs and over), and truck movement permits.
